Focus on Quality

Lady of the Sea provides an up-to-date look at our quality scores via our patient satisfaction results. These results are updated quarterly on our website. In order to gauge patient satisfaction from patients who use different services at our facility, Lady of the Sea has partnered with Press Ganey, the leading provider of patient satisfaction surveys to gain feedback from our patients. Press Ganey provides patients surveys for Lady of the Sea patients utilizing our emergency department (ER-CAHPS launching soon), home health (HH-CAHPS), medical practice (CG-CAHPS at family clinics) and inpatient (including HCAHPS).

We participate in the CAHPS (Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) program through CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid). The purpose and methodology behind the CAHPS program is:

  • Produce comparable data on the patient's perspective on care that allows objective and meaningful comparisons between hospitals on domains that are important to consumers.
  • Public reporting of the survey results is designed to create incentives for hospitals to improve their quality of care.
  • Public reporting will serve to enhance public accountability in health care by increasing the transparency of the quality of hospital care provided in return for the public investment.

With these goals in mind, the HCAHPS project has taken substantial steps to assure that the survey is credible, useful, and practical. This methodology and the information it generates are available to the public via our website and hospitalcompare.com.
