Position:
FULL TIME Computer Technician in Information Technology
Purpose:
Under supervision of a Division Manager, installs, maintains, troubleshoots and upgrades computer hardware, software, personal computer networks, peripheral equipment and electronic mail systems; assesses user training needs and trains users in effective use of applications; makes recommendations regarding hardware and software acquisitions; prepares documentation and provides user assistance to staff; and performs related work as required. Supports and maintains user account information including rights, security, and systems groups.

Qualifications:
  1. High school graduate or equivalent.
  2. Knowledge of computer hardware, software and peripherals such as central processing units, servers, monitors, cables, network systems, printers, plotters and modems;
  3. Functions, operations and technology related to hospital financial, business and administrative applications and related hardware and software;
  4. Current technology related to hospital applications, networks and telecommunications and the equipment and software required to maximize system support;
  5. Procedures for installing, configuring, upgrading, troubleshooting and repairing applicable software, hardware and peripherals;
  6. Principles, practices, hardware and software related to the establishment and maintenance of LAN's and WAN's; and Techniques for explaining technical concepts and procedures to non-technical users.
Working Conditions:
  1. Installing, configuring and upgrading operating systems and software, using primarily standard financial, business and administrative application practices;
  2. Installing, configuring, assembling and repairing computers, monitors, network infrastructure and peripherals such as printers and related hardware;
  3. Monitoring the hospital's wired and wireless LAN's and WAN's;
  4. Troubleshooting and solving hardware and software problems;
  5. Instructing users on new or upgraded computer applications and hardware;
  6. Using initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines and procedures;
  7. Organizing own work, setting priorities and meeting critical time deadlines;
  8. Communicating effectively with co-workers, subordinates, superiors, the general public, representatives of public and private organizations and others sufficient to exchange or convey information.
  9. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
    Possesses positive customer service skills.
    Departmental inventory management and asset control.
  10. Software purchasing and license management.
    11. Open, manage, and close trouble tickets.
    12. Manage client malware and security software tools.
    13. Manage access control and permissions to software, files, and services.
Primary Duties:
  1. Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds
  2. Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
  3. Employee will be lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds approximately 15% of the day.
  4. Employee will be sitting approximately 37% of the day.
  5. Employee will be standing and walking approximately 12% of the day.
  6. Employee will be pushing and pulling approximately 12% of the day.
  7. Employee will be twisting, climbing, kneeling, stooping, and bending approximately 12% of the day.
  8. Employee will be reaching at or above shoulder level approximately 12% of the day.
